The EcoStruxure Web Service (EWS) Server architecture was developed by Schneider Electric to enable interoperability between the company's software applications.
In Citect SCADA EWS runs as a server process in runtime manager, using the CtAPI server interface in the citect process to communicate with the IO Server to get variable tag data, and set variable tag values. Data is formatted in SOAP envelope and transmitted over HTTPs.
