Use the Project DBF Add-In to Define Equipment Associations

You can use Citect SCADA's Project DBF Add-In to edit equipment associations directly in a project's database tables using Microsoft Excelâ„¢. This may allow you to rapidly deploy an equipment hierarchy for an existing project, particularly if your tags adhere to a naming convention that replicates a hierarchical architecture.

The Project DBF Add-In operates from within Excel. It connects you to the MASTER.DBF file for a selected project, and provides access to a list of included tables (see Using Microsoft Excel to Edit .dbf Tables).

To use the Project DBF Add-In to edit your equipment associations:

  1. You will firstly need to define the equipment required to support your tags.
  2. Note: The Type and Prefix properties (or columns) are not required when configuring equipment for an existing project as they are only used when generating records in Equipment Editor.

  3. You then need to open the table for a particular tag type to associate the Equipment property with one of your equipment definitions. The following tables include the Equipment column:
  4. Save your changes.

The compiler will check the existence of the equipment you have referenced and will generate an error message if required.
