Operate Runtime Manager in Service Mode

Citect SCADA can be run as a Windows™ service, allowing for unattended operation of system servers. The associated service, named "Citect Runtime Manager", is configured using the Microsoft Management Console. When Citect SCADA is running as a service, the Runtime Manager will operate in "Service Mode". This is indicated by the application title bar, which displays "Runtime Manager (Service Mode)".

When operating in Service Mode, the Runtime Manager will demonstrate the following functionality changes:

• The display client process will not appear in the list of processes.
• You are unable to view the Kernel for a process, however you can still use the Dump Kernel feature.
• A process named "System Services" will appear in the list of processes. This process performs system functions for the service. If you stop the System Services process, it will cause the other Citect SCADA processes to close down as the system will no longer be able to detect a license.

Note: If you attempt to switch Citect SCADA between Service Mode and normal operation, you need to close down the display client and the Runtime Manager before you restart Citect SCADA in a different mode.
